Within our crane operations and lift co-ordination services we have specialists in engineered lifting, precast concrete placement, tower crane erection and dismantling, Autocad lift planning, over-dimensional transportation, marine, and heavy vehicle salvage, project management, house lifting, wind turbine installation, and maintenance.

This year kicks off busily for the team with the successful SailGP coming to Auckland with NZ Cranes as the main crane supplier for the Regatta
2024
Two more new Liebherr Cranes as part of the upgrade of our fleet to all Liebherr.
Deane elected President of the Crane Association.
NZ Cranes become first Crane Hire business in Australasia to trial Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil in our flagship crane the Liebherr LTM1450 in collaboration with our alliance customer on a major roading project. HVO has potential to help reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% and is an important piece of NZ Cranes efforts to reduce our environmental footprint.

In a long-planned part of our succession planning, Will Dobson acquires a 25% shareholding in the business.
2022
The Crane Association of New Zealand award NZ Cranes with their Crane Training Company of the Year award and one of our up-and-coming Operators win Crane Trainee of the Year award.
We continue our commitment to our exclusive supply agreement with Liebherr Cranes and acquire a 60 tonne crawler crane and new 160 and 120 tonne mobile machines

New Zealand Crane Hire takes delivery of a new Liebherr LTM1450 Mobile Crane. This crane, with a lifting capacity of 450 tonnes and boom length of up to 136 metres is a significant advance on our old 450 machine which was sold to make way for it the previous year.

David Wallace and Will Dobson join Deane Manley on the Board, David as an Independent Director and Will as Managing Director.
2015
In 2015 NZ Crane Hire sold its tower crane fleet to concentrate on its core strengths in mobile crane taxi hire. The capital was reinvested into purchasing a new Terex AC250 All Terrain Crane, a new Grove GMK5130 All Terrain Crane, two new Kato 13 tonne City Cranes, a new Liebherr LTM1045 All Terrain/City Crane and late model Liebherr LTM1090 and LTM 1055 All Terrain Cranes.

NZ Crane Group divests their Access division, NZ Access Hire, to concentrate on their core business, providing skilled and specialist operators with a diverse offering of cranes and transport equipment. As part of a strategy to strengthen its presence in key markets around the country, NZ Crane Group finalises the sale of its Wellington branch. By bringing all operations into one central location in Auckland, NZ Crane Group is able to take a more holistic approach towards major civil and industrial construction projects and focus on meeting the needs of its clients wherever they are based in New Zealand.

NZ Crane Group purchases seven new cranes, including a 450 tonne capacity Grove GMK7450, which is the largest hydraulic crane available in New Zealand.
2005
AMP purchase a majority shareholding in NZ Crane Hire, NZ Access Hire, NZ Tower Cranes and amalgamates the three companies to form NZ Crane Group. NZ Crane Group acquires two provincial crane businesses and expands operations throughout the North Island.
2004
NZ Tower Cranes is formed to provide self-erecting tower crane services.
2000
NZ Access Hire is formed to provide elevated work platform solutions.
1999
NZ Crane Hire is formed and acquires the Central Cranes business from Northland Port Corporation, amalgamating the operations of several other Auckland based crane companies at the same time.

Central Cranes Limited starts up in Auckland.
